Alcohol Inks and Paste Paper
In class we experimented with paste paper and alcohol inks. For the paste paper we used the Henry Morris paste recipe which is basically a mixture of cornstarch and water. We also applied pigment to the paste to create color. Once the paste is applied to the paper you can use different tools such as combs, toothpicks, or even your fingers, to create designs in the paste to create a patter or design on the paper itself. Below are some pictures of my finished results.
For the Alcohol inks we used alcohol inks and alcohol. You can use either the ink or the alcohol first and it helps to have a straw so you can blow the ink around as you please. With my finished products the first one (below) was just a test to see how the ink would work on its own without using a straw, I did hold the paper so that the ink would move down the page instead of just laying the paper flat on its back. For the second one, which I think turned out much better I used the straw to blow the ink around.
